Refurbishing the old cash office and Enterprise space on Level 2 at UWE’s Frenchay Campus presented a significant challenge: completing a comprehensive reconfiguration within a tight 10-week timeframe. With students set to return in September, it was critical to deliver the project on time.
The location, in the heart of a live university environment, added complexity, requiring careful coordination to minimise disruption to neighbouring offices, seminar rooms, and exam spaces.
To maintain the programme, we prioritised forward planning, close coordination with stakeholders, and clear communication. Our team focused on building solid relationships with the client and stakeholders to ensure swift decision-making and seamless execution.
The project involved:
The demolition of internal block walls
Reconfiguration of spaces
Upgrading of fire-stopping
Installation of new flooring, ceiling tiles, and decorations
We also completed alterations to Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services to accommodate the new layout and installed acoustic wall paneling and ceiling baffles to enhance the spaces.
Despite the tight schedule and the challenges of working in a live university environment, our team successfully delivered the project on time, thanks to meticulous planning and proactive communication.
The refurbishment was completed within the 10-week programme, on time and on budget. The updated spaces were handed over to a satisfied client and ready for students to use at the start of the new academic year.
