The project involved the strip-out and refurbishment of an ablutions block at an armed forces cadet training facility.
Site access was restricted, with limited space within the site boundaries and a narrow bridge with weight restrictions.
The works also required significant structural repairs to the timber-framed single-storey structure and upgrades to drainage systems, mechanical and electrical services, and access infrastructure, all within a tight 17-week programme.
We prioritised careful logistics planning to address the restricted site access and bridge weight limitations. Close collaboration with the client and project stakeholders ensured clear communication and efficient progress, minimising delays and maintaining programme delivery.
The project included structural repairs to the existing timber frame and the creation of separate male, female, and adult shower and toilet facilities.
External works included the installation of access ramps, steps, and pathways, as well as revisions to below-ground drainage systems.
Internally, the mechanical and electrical services were entirely replaced, with systems installed to serve 14 WCs, 18 basins and sinks, and 13 showers, along with associated communal areas.
A structural deck was constructed to support above-ceiling services. The refurbishment delivered modern, functional, and efficient facilities.
The project was completed in June 2024, with works delivering modernised, fit-for-purpose facilities that meet the needs of cadets and staff while ensuring compliance with current standards.
