Summer Hill Acadamy

Following a competitive tender process, we were instructed to refurbish part of the lower ground floor area of Summerhill Academy to form a new kitchen, bin store, WC, staff room and dining hall for the school so that catering could be brought back on to site. The works were carried out under a contract working closely with client architects Mitchell Ely Gould of Bath. The focus was to hand the area back to the school for use in time for the new school year starting at the beginning of September. The site area adjoined the school playground where a site compound was formed, with fencing segregating works from the children. Access to the compound and site was via the main school entrance and all activities needed to be timed around the school day. Works included extensive stripout and demolition, temporary works to form new openings, ground works, drainage, timber frame construction and seasoned timber cladding, window replacements, single ply roofing, new M&E, plaster finishes to walls, carpentry and joinery including IPS panels, full redecoration and floor coverings. The project was completed with extensive decking providing access to the dining area from the play ground. All works were successfully completed within the programme.
