At 21CBS, our commitment to community goes far beyond construction.
This year, we’re proud to support Operation Community Hamper, a charity making a profound difference to families who need it most.
With support from yours and our donations, we’re helping the charity to create 1,000 hampers filled with food and bespoke gifts to bring joy and relief to families across the South West this Christmas.
Making a donation: how can you get involved? If you’d like to do your part to support the creation of the hampers, please donate non-perishable goods or gifts at any 21CBS site or our main office. See full instructions at the end of this article. |
What began in 2020 as a small-scale initiative from the founder’s living room has grown into a year-round lifeline for families in financial crisis.
The charity initially distributed Christmas hampers to provide extra support during the festive season.
Today, they extend their help throughout the year, offering groceries, utilities support, and access to enriching activities for families.
In 2023, the charity provided 656 hampers to struggling families. This year, they’re aiming even higher, with a goal to deliver 1,000 hampers and bespoke gifts to those who need them most.
Last Christmas, a family received a hamper covered in green tinsel.
With no Christmas tree or decorations in their home, the children laid the tinsel on their floor in the shape of a tree and placed the donated gifts beside it.
For a family with so little, this small gesture turned their Christmas into something memorable and magical.
Stories like these show how much of an impact Operation Community Hamper makes. In essence, the charity provides more than simply essentials—they ensure everyone gets to have those happy, festive family moments that will be remembered for years to come.
Our journey with Operation Community Hamper began through a shared love of Bristol Rovers and a conversation with the charity’s founder, Charlotte. Inspired by her passion and the vital work the charity does, we knew we wanted to help make a difference.
To support this year’s ambitious goal of creating 1,000 hampers filled with food and bespoke gifts, we’ve launched a donation drive across all 21CBS sites and offices.
Here’s how we’re making it happen:
Donation Boxes: Each of our sites has a dedicated box, complete with a poster and list of needed non-perishable items, which our teams and members of the public can contribute to.
Collection & Delivery: As donations come in, our team will gather and deliver them to the charity’s collection day at the Memorial Stadium in early December. With everyone’s combined generosity, we’re hoping to need our largest vehicle!
Encouraging Involvement: We’re encouraging creative ideas from our teams to further promote this cause and ensure the charity receives its largest contribution yet.
As the cost-of-living crisis continues to put more families under financial strain, many parents are working full-time but are still unable to make ends meet.
Operation Community Hamper steps in where traditional support systems can’t, providing relief and, just as importantly, joy during the holiday season.
By supporting this initiative, we’re helping to make a real difference for families across our community.
We’re accepting donations of non-perishable goods and thoughtful gifts for families until the first week of December. Look out for our donation boxes at any 21CBS site or office.
Here are some ideas of what you can donate:
Festive drink powders or squashes (e.g., Hot chocolate, squash, tea, coffee, cordials, latte / cappuccino).
Non-perishable snacks (e.g., Chocolate tubs, jam, honey, sweets, popcorn, biscuits, Christmas pudding).
Non-perishable desserts (e.g., Mince pies, yule logs, children’s cake mixes).
Non-perishable savouries (e.g., Pickles, biscuits for cheese, crisps, stuffing mix).
Other festive items (e.g., Christmas crackers, small games).
Toiletries (e.g., Shower gel, toothbrushes and paste, washing tablets)
Household essentials (e.g., Pet food).
All donations will be delivered to the Memorial Stadium on the charity’s collection day. From there, they’ll be packaged into hampers and distributed to families in need, spreading joy and hope just in time for Christmas.
